When will DUNGEONFOG be available?

Our goal is to release it by the end of 2017, to have some breathing room, we have set the release for Kickstarter to Feb 2018. But don’t despair, there are several ways to get your hands on our editor before the release:

Alpha Testing (Summer 2017) After our Kickstarter campaign we will begin with our alpha testing. Check out our rewards to see how you can get access to our ALPHA.

Beta Testing (Fall 2017) As soon as Alpha is over, we will start with Beta testing (our goal: Summer/Fall 2017). Check out our rewards to see how you can get access to our BETA.

Is DUNGEONFOG software or a web solution?

DUNGEONFOG is an online tool. So there will be no need to download and install software to your computer. All you need is a browser (preferably in an up-to-date version) and an internet connection.

Last updated: March 27, 2017 03:47

Will there be a way to use it as an offline solution?

To be honest, we are not sure yet. We ran some tests with Electron and it seems possible, but we will have explore this in more detail to give an answer here. We are keeping it as an option to bring offline support through a stretch-goal.

Last updated: March 27, 2017 03:48

Are there system requirements?

We will support Firefox and Chrome as main browsers. If you are running Safari, Edge or Opera, please check our browser support document once we have released ALPHA.

Regarding performance – We have encountered performance breakdowns with giant maps on very old computers, so we will release a system recommendation after our pre-alpha has finished.

Is DUNGEONFOG considered a Virtual-Game-Table?

No. To our understanding a virtual game table covers all the rules of one or more game systems, allows virtual dice rolling and offers possibilities to communicate with others through chat or VOIP. We don’t want to dive into these waters (at least for now).

However, we want to give a tool, where you can use your maps as virtual enhancement to your game. So you will be able to display maps through systems like projectors, TV or PC screens and have your party explore your maps. There will be a GM’s View of the map where the GM sees everything he has created and a Player’s View, where your party sees only the things they have uncovered. You will be able to reveal rooms or hidden objects to your party, show them pictures, place creatures and party members through tokens and move them.

Will you support Virtual-Game-Tables like R20, Fantasy Grounds or d20pro?

Yes, there will be options to export your maps and GM-Notes in formats that you can easily import into those virtual game tables. We would love to offer a direct interface to those systems, but that will have to wait until we have gained some importance.

Will I be able to use DUNGEONFOG on mobile devices?

Yes, there might be limitations to map making tools, but you will definitely be able to access (and to some extend edit) your maps and DM-notes through mobile devices. We are still pretty early on in development, so we are careful with promises, but we are determined to make this happen.

Last updated: March 27, 2017 03:52

Will I be able to use contend created in DUNGEONFOG commercially?

Yes, we’ll have an option for those who want to use the images for commercial purposes. We are still in the process of figuring this out, since we haven’t found the best solution yet. We are thinking either a subscription option to pay a small additional fee each month or to use a pay per published map model instead. We haven’t decided yet, but yes, there will definitely be an option for that.

Last updated: March 27, 2017 03:53

Is there going to be a marketplace to sell/buy props, textures or even maps?

Yes, but not directly after launch. We are planning to bring a marketplace in 2018, where you can buy and sell props, textures and monster/player-tokens that you have created yourself.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
